Village Design Statement
(Approved November 2006)

Introduction

A new Local Plan is being prepared by Horsham District Council (HDC) to cover all aspects of development in our area. A draft consultation document for public comment will be published in June and this will be available on the Internet as well as from HDC. We will endeavour to make a paper copy available here in Nutbourne for comment either through us or direct to HDC.

All villages are being encouraged to provide a "Village Design Statement" as it is this pro-active document that once agreed with HDC will shape future development. Many villages have already completed this process and published their VDSs and we would like to prepare a draft document for local consultation. If you would like to help in this process or have any definite views that should be included please contact Frank Riddle on 813484.

For those who have access to the Internet there is a lot of information about "Village Design Statements" from the Countryside Agency etc., and we currently have samples of published VDSs from West Chiltington, Thakeham etc. that are available for viewing.

Current Status

May 2007 Printed copies of the final version are now available and will be distributed around the village and eleswhere in the coming weeks. Download (5MB)

November 2006 The final version was approved by Horsham District council's cabinet to form part of the District's planning guidance.

July 2006 Following comments from several villagers and Pulborough Parish Council (and a grammar check) a new draught has been prepared. Download (1.5MB)

February 2006 The final draught of the Village Design Statement has been approved by Horsham District Council staff and copies are being distributed to all homes in Nutbourne for comment. Download the full colour version here (1.5MB)
